Formed in early 2017, WISBORG create haunting music that draws from elements of dark wave and post-punk. Visually, they are influenced by the aesthetics of the German silent movie era.
After writing and recording nine tracks for an album during the same year, the band released a music video for „Becoming Caligari“ and started playing live, opening for bands like „She Past Away“, „Der Fluch“ or „TV Smith & The Bored Teenagers“.
In early 2018, WISBORG signed to Danse Macabre Records. Their debut album „The Tragedy Of Seconds Gone“ came out on April 27th. Prior to its release, the record already reached number three of the German alternative charts. Due to this unexpected success, WISBORG were added to the line up of Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2018 just four days before the start of the festival.
For its June edition, German „Orkus!“ magazine chose WISBORG as „newcomer of the month“. „Sonic Seducer“ praised them as the starters of a new wave within the neo-post-punk era. Extensive touring throughout the rest of 2018 established WISBORG as a force to be reckoned with within the German gothic scene.
The second WISBORG record „From The Cradle To The Coffin“ came out on March 29th, 2019. It was chosen as „album of the month“ in the April edition of „Sonic Seducer“ and, once again, recommended by „Orkus!“ magazine. In support of the release, the band is going on „Goth-Rock-Trinity“ tour with „Age Of Heaven“ and „Still Patient?“. They are also playing their first shows outside Germany this year, spreading their twisted hymns of love and transience over Great Britain, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
